 | Of course, Louisiana's logistics infrastructure is not limited to ports and rivers. Louisiana's public and commercial airports can accommodate the largest aircraft and are home to some of the world's leading aerospace component manufacturers. Additionally, all of the Class 1 railroads in North America connect in Louisiana. The alliance region represents direct connection to the primary ports, the shallow draft Port Manchac, both of the State's international airports (located in Baton Rouge and New Orleans which are less than one hour away from the most distant locations in the region), and a number of regional airports including that of Hammond, the new home of a U.S. Customs center. (Click here to download the Port Manchac Fact Sheet.) In addition, despite its strong positioning as a national logistics hub, Louisiana is not resting on its laurels. The Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development organized the Louisiana Investment in Infrastructure for Economic Prosperity Commission to aid in the continuing development of the state's transportation policy and planning framework to achieve its goals today and over the next 30 years. | |
